We are a collaborative group formed by individuals that support empowerment and education in the Middle Georgia Area and Macon Community. The Legacy Builders Foundation, Inc believes that all children and families from underserved groups can achieve high levels of spiritual, social, emotional, and personal development when fully informed and supported in regard to their talents and gifts.

Our CEO and Founder, Dr. Vickie Perdue Scott, is a  descendant of the original Ocmulgee American Indian Natives and Black Indigenous People of Color who occupied this land for thousands of years before the City of Macon was founded.

 

Macon is a city in Central Georgia that is home to the Ocmulgee National Monument that has rich Native American Heritage and earthen mounds that date from around 1000 A.D. 

 

The Ocmulgee National Monument Museum displays artifacts spanning thousands of years. The Tubman Museum displays the artifacts of our African- American Art, History, and Culture.

 

Legacy Builders Foundation believes that all children and families from underserved groups can achieve high levels of spiritual, social, emotional, and personal development when fully informed and supported in regard to their talents and gifts. It is our goal to provide the Vision needed to fulfill the Mission.

Our founder and CEO of Legacy Builders Foundation Inc, Dr. Vickie Perdue Scott, a graduate of M.M. Burdell, Peter G. Appling and Northeast High School and a product of the Bibb County Public Schools, has firsthand knowledge of the lack of information typically provided to poor, urban children.

 

She also knows the power of knowledge based upon her undergraduate and graduate studies at Mercer University, University of Georgia and Nova Southeastern University.

 

Her successful experiences as a Transformational Leader and P-16 educator, District Administrator, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Deputy Superintendent for Academics have provided her with the knowledge, skills and expertise to fully implement the quality educational programs that will be provided to the students and families.

 

Dr. Scott has partnered with high quality professionals with the integrity to fulfill the mission. We are a group formed by individuals that support empowerment and education in the Middle Georgia Area.

Mission

Our mission is to ensure access and equity for underserved children and families in the East Macon and Middle Georgia Community by providing quality educational, healthcare, housing and economic and community development opportunities to include Housing, Homeownership Opportunities, Mixed-Use Developments, Macon Housing Authority Planned Communities, Commercial Real-Estate Development,  Affordable Housing Projects, and Model Community Developments.

 

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of increasing access and equity for children and their families to the quality of life that all citizens and residents deserve in the Macon- Bibb County and Georgia community.

Vision

Our vision is to collaborate with the citizens, community agencies, businesses, foundations, corporations, faith-based organizations and individuals to enhance the educational, healthcare, housing, and economic community development opportunities for the children and families from the East Macon and Middle Georgia Community. Our vision is to provide the necessary training and support needed to empower our residents to self-sufficiency. We have focused on College and Career Workshops, STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, ART, Music and Math) Summer Camps, Healthcare Seminars, Housing Seminars, and conducting Economic and Community Development Stakeholder Focus Groups, proudly serving more than 3000 children and families annually.

Work

Our work is guided by Economic and Community Profile Data, Census Data, and the Annie B. Casey Foundation Kid’s Count Data. We believe in following the data and providing appropriate interventions throughout the birth to eternal life cycle. By working with the community, we believe our children and parents in the East Macon Community can be successful citizens and be empowered to improve their quality of life for generations to come.

Focus

Our focus is to assist all children and their families, no matter what their circumstances, to increase their awareness and preparedness of the opportunities available in the Macon and Georgia Community. We believe that by doing so we can build bridges between the communities and our families that will bring together socioeconomic, educational, ethnic and cultural backgrounds from all walks of life.
